How to Serve at IC

Service is an important aspect of any Christian community. Like Evangelization, service comes from a place of generosity.

There are many ways that you can serve our community.

Are you a good speaker? Consider becoming a Lector for Mass or helping us advertise and fundraise.
Are you passionate about learning? Become part of our groups that promote studying together and share your gifts.
Are you outgoing? Perhaps consider being a friendly face that greets people on the weekend.
Do you care about our space? Consider joining our groups that help maintain our campus and keep our church clean.

As you can see, there are many ways to be involved at IC. Please consider reaching out to us, so that we can get to know you better. Perhaps we can even help you discern your gifts and how you can best serve us here in-house, or how we can serve others outside our community.

Lent 2021

Please see below how we are serving others this Lent and how you can participate and help.

Vespers

Funds raised by our Vespers service will support our Music Ministry (50%) and the Suppers for the Hungry and Homeless (50%).

As of now, only cash and checks are accepted. They may be given at our Vespers Service itself, or can be sent in/dropped off in an envelope. Please mark the envelope/check with "Vespers" and we will properly designate the money.

Our Vespers services will be held on Wednesdays @ 7:00 P.M. In-Person at our Church and online at either our Facebook Page (registration required) or our Twitch Channel (no registration required).

2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, and 3/24

An example of our Vespers (which at the time was not in-person) is available here.

Collection for Catholic Charities Food Pantry

We will also collect food items for the local Food Pantry (Emergency Assistance Program).

The items most requested by those running the pantry and serving people are:

+ Peanut Butter & Jelly

+ Spaghetti & Pastas

+ Pasta Sauce

+ Rice

+ Condensed Milk

+ Canned Soup (or Dry)

+ Canned Fruits

Collections for these items begin 2/27 - 2/28 and will be accepted throughout Lent, until Palm Sunday (March 28th). Bins will be available for drop-off at the entrance of our Church.

We will also ask for volunteers at a later date to help sort, box, and deliver these goods. Please email Fr. Matt (fr.matt@icchicago.org) if interested.
